Cabinet Office minister Jeremy Quin announced the initiative to make the civil service more efficient. The government may pay the salaries of these private sector digital experts, who will be given the opportunity to join the civil service and drive tangible change. The goal is to attract and retain top digital talent to use digital technologies effectively for public service. Existing civil servants could also see pay increases based on their demonstrated skills. The government aims to use AI confidently and responsibly but is uncertain about the number of jobs that may be impacted by greater AI and automation use in the civil service.
