The article discusses the increasing use of ChatGPT, a Generative AI tool developed by OpenAI, in various professional settings and public services. Several countries, including Singapore, have considered implementing ChatGPT in the civil service for tasks such as research and speech-writing, which raises concerns about transparency, accountability, and potential misinformation. The article emphasizes the need for responsible integration of AI in human workflows, with human supervision and control to mitigate risks and ensure accurate decision-making. It argues that GenAI should augment human intelligence rather than replace it, and human-machine interaction requires careful consideration to leverage the strengths of both.
